TWITTER WINNER of Women-led IIC (2)

The Women-led Impact Investor Challenge culminated in Voxcell BioInnovation Inc. receiving $100,000+ in capital investment from the graduating cohort of impact investors

On a mission to promote gender diversity within the impact investor and startup ecosystem, we partnered with the TELUS Pollinator Fund for Good to bring you the Women-led Impact Investor Challenge. The challenge has been unfolding for the past few months to facilitate connections between those looking for purpose-based investments with women-founders who are working on solutions to local and global problems.

At the pitch finale on November 29, 2022, Voxcell BioInnovation Inc. walked away with a $100k+ investment from the cohort of impact investors. We are sincerely grateful to have Dr. Karolina Valente in this cohort and we look forward to seeing how she will leverage this capital.

The Impact Investor Challenge was created to help impact-driven businesses receive the capital and knowledge needed to succeed. The Pitch Finale is the pivotal moment in which we collectively make this happen for one impact venture!

If you have not been following along, VoxCell BioInnovation Inc. is creating fully vascularized, human-like cancer tissue models by combining a custom high-resolution 3D bioprinter, advanced vascularization software, and proprietary bioinks. VoxCell aims to accelerate the development of life-saving anti-cancer drugs by providing tissue models that can identify viable candidates earlier in the drug-development pipeline.

About the Women-led Impact Investor Challenge

The Women-led IIC was created because women founders in Canada are still vastly underestimated. Although, according to the Women Entrepreneurship Knowledge Hub, 15.6 per cent of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Canada are owned by women, 50 per cent of business created today are created by women, yet 90 per cent of venture capital (VC) deals go to companies founded by men, 92.7 per cent of women owned businesses are micro firms and 60 per cent of the time investors will invest in pitches done by men over women. The Women-led IIC was created to address this.
