At Spring Activator, impact means fostering social, environmental, and financial sustainability into all of the businesses we work with.

3 years ago, we founded Spring with the vision of making impact mainstream. We’ve supported 450+ local entrepreneurs, 225+ companies, has helped create more than 300 jobs in our local economy and enabled early-stage funding of over $9 million to be raised.

Today, we are thrilled to announce that Spring is one big stride closer to our vision of changing the world through entrepreneurship, as a Certified B Corporation!

What is a B Corp?

The B Corporation Certification is a global movement of leaders using business as a force for good. Unlike traditional corporations, B Corporations are legally required to consider the impact of their decisions not only on their shareholders, but also on their stakeholders (e.g., workers, suppliers, community, consumers, and the environment). At Spring we’re proud to say that we’ve joined over 2,200 Certified B Corporations from more than 130 industries in 50+ countries around the world.

What does it mean to be part of this global community?

Being a Certified B Corporation is essentially the business equivalent of Fairtrade and Organic products. In order to have your company become a Certified B Corps, your entire business model, mission, and impact activities will all be examined to ensure that you meet these standards.

The process of becoming a B Corporation is rigorous. It focuses on assessing the way one does business, how one treats employees, and community partners, how one’s business affects the environment and finally what the governance structure looks like. This complete review of the business ensure companies are held up to the highest of standards. We are pleased to share that we scored 94 as our B Corporation score, with 80 being the base level to qualify. Our score is a testament to the purposeful ways we are trying to lead by example, and adopt successful and sustainable business practices.

As a part of the Certified B Corps movement, Spring is committed to leading the movement to make impact entrepreneurship mainstream.

Why is becoming a Certified B Corp is a big deal?

We created Spring to focus on developing purpose-driven leaders and entrepreneurs by providing them with the foundation on to how to build a mission-based business. This ties in with the B Corporation’s mandate of redefining successful businesses.

By becoming a Certified B Corps, we are setting an example within the startup education industry. We will inspire others to not only be the best in the world, but to be the best for the world.

Some of the companies that we’ve worked with include Nada and New/Mode. Both are mission-based companies working on big societal challenges including plastic pollution along with food waste and digital advocacy respectively. Spring has supported both these companies in their growth strategies, capital raising plans and in amplifying their impact.

Now that we’re certified and part of the global community of like-minded impact leaders, Spring will continue its mission to fostering and developing impact businesses. We are looking forward to sharing our journey on how we became certified through upcoming blogs, workshops, and videos. In particular, we want to see how we can push ourselves further and spread the impact mission across the globe.
