Spring & Impact

Our Impact Report

We are excited to present our 2020-21 impact report, outlining our approach to changing the world through innovation and highlighting the work of the wider ecosystem we support.

For our internal impact as an organisation, we highlight our certification as a B Corporation® and B Impact Score of 97, which we achieved in 2021 as we got re-certified. Being a Certified B Corp™ is essentially the business equivalent of Fairtrade and Organic products, showing how we adopt successful and sustainable business practices.

Spring is a Certified B Corp™

Our mission of making impact entrepreneurship mainstream is in line with the B-Corporation mandate of redefining successful businesses and inspiring organisations to not only be the best in but for the world. Thus in September 2017, we became a Certified B Corporation®. There are over 3,700 Certified B Corporations from more than 150 industries in 60+ countries.

Spring was certified by the non-profit B Lab to meet rigorous standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency. We’ve evaluated how our practices impact our employees, our community, the environment, and our customers. To learn more about our certification, check out our B Corp profile.

Spring is a 1% for the Planet Member

As members of 1% for the Planet, we give one percent of our gross revenue and provide in-kind consultations to environmental not-for-profits.

Taking this step was a natural choice for us at Spring. Being based in Vancouver, we are lucky to have both the mountains and the ocean at our doorstep, reminding us every day of how important it is to thrive in balance with the natural world.

The environment is both our playground and our support system, and as such it’s our duty to give back and protect it. 1% for the Planet membership gives us both a means to do so and a platform to bring awareness to what we care about and what allows us and our community to do impactful work.

Meet Our 1% For the Planet Partner

Our 2021 partner is Canopy, an award-winning environmental NGO dedicated to protecting the world’s forests, species, and climate, and to advancing community rights by harnessing the purchasing power of the global marketplace.

Canopy builds transformational partnerships with hundreds of the world’s largest brands and leverages their influence to transform unsustainable supply chains, catalyze Next Generation Solutions, and secure landscape-level forest conservation. Brand partners include H&M, Zara/Inditex, Amazon, Penguin Random House and The Guardian.

Through our partnership, we donate 1% of our revenue and share our know-how by providing in-kind consultations.

Spring Works Towards the UN Sustainable Development Goals

We also aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that are a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity.

We primarily contribute towards SDG4: Quality Education, and then towards SDG10: Reduced Inequality, and SDG8: Decent Work and Economic Growth

For the companies we support, we further built on the UN SDG framework and developed our Impact Theme Framework, by canvassing out 75 Impact Themes. This helped us capture the spectrum of impact areas undertaken by our community. The chart below shows the SDG scope of our current portfolio of roundtable companies. In general, each of the companies in our roundtables are supporting at least 2 or more of the SDGs.
