Gender Lens investing, also known as “gender-smart” investing, takes gender-based issues into consideration when making in investment decisions. Being a gender-smart investor means investing in companies that are committed to:
Being owned and led by women
Creating and maintaining a gender-inclusive value chain
Ensuring operations do no harm to women
Developing a gender-diverse and equitable workforce
Designing products or services that consider the distinct needs of women as a consumer segment
What You’ll Learn
This four-part conversation series is open to investors, investing-curious and investment organization reps of all genders curious how gender lens investing (GLI) can strengthen portfolios, improve risk-adjusted returns and create meaningful positive impact at multiple levels. Hosted by Spring Co-CEO Caroline von Hirschberg, each 90-minute conversation blends practical investor experience with thought leaders and founder case studies, drawing on international frameworks such as 2X Global. These conversations will support you in:
Building your personal investment thesis, understanding how to integrate gender-smart decisions in your approach, investments and exits
Developing lifelong connections with values-aligned peers
Receiving early introductions to ventures with embedded impact and gender-smart approaches
Foundations culminates in a pitch event where you can witness what has been discussed in real life, when 10 women-led ventures from Invest Together in Women-Led Impact 2026 pitch to an audience of investors. You can choose to observe the pitches as a Foundations participant or to engage by joining our Supported DD process.
Foundations runs on Tuesdays for four weeks – January 13th, 20th, 27th and February 3rd from 12-1.30PM PST.

The Conversation Series
Why Gender Lens Investing?: Leadership, Ownership & Recognizing Bias – This opening conversation sets the stage for the series by unpacking the why of gender lens investing, including the economic, social and environmental rationale for embedding gender across investment decisions.
Beyond Leadership: Value Chains, Products & Services – Examining how gender considerations can and should be embedded throughout company value chains and product design.
Beyond Gender: Intersectional Investing & Global Insights – Expanding beyond gender lens to intersectional investing, integrating considerations of race, identity, ability, geography and lived experience into investment strategy.
Canada’s Gender Lens Investing Moment: Pipeline, Policy & Practice – Situating gender-lens investing within the Canadian landscape, highlighting national initiatives and momentum.
This series distills decades of learning and lived experience on gender lens – from thought leaders and do-ers – into the conversations that I’m personally excited to have! As more of us become aware of our power to rethink how we use our capital, and the real opportunity and impact of investing in underrepresented founders, these conversations will take us on the next step of that journey.
